About this show

Introduction

In this episode of Norwich Today, Dominik explores various aspects of consumer technology. He compares the iOS and Android ecosystems, warns parents about the financial risks of in-app purchases, and discusses the pros and cons of using Windows 10 on tablets. The programme also features an interview with Vicky Huckle regarding the Norwich Baby Bank.

Dominik discusses the differences between mobile operating systems, contrasting Apple's closed iOS ecosystem with Google's open Android system. He notes that while Android tablets can be found cheaply, iPads offer superior idle battery life and lower latency for serious music production. Dominik also warns parents about the financial risks of in-app purchases in games like Candy Crush Saga. In a separate segment, a guest evaluates Windows 10 on a tablet, describing it as an improvement over Windows 8 but citing a lack of touch-friendly apps, system bugs, and OneDrive syncing issues on unstable Wi-Fi. The guest mentions attending the British Education Technology Show at the Excel Exhibition Centre in London.
